No other tree in Europe is so closely associated with traditional customs and mythology as the linden tree. The different types of linden trees are hardly distinguishable in color. All lime trees have a bright heartwood without color deposition to the sapwood. Sometimes the white-yellowish wood has a reddish tint, as well as greenish coloured areas. The annual rings are only weakly recognisable. Compared to other types of wood linden is quite uniform. This wood is very soft, but has a dense structure. It does not splinter making it a perfect choice for woodturning.
