Ash is a deciduous tree that attracts attention due to its elegant look. The color of ash wood ranges from a pale grey or yellowish-white to a reddish white that darkens to light brown. Ash wood has a striking design through narrow dark stripes, or a tongue-shaped grain. The structure of ash wood may be recognised by coarse or annular pores. Annual rings are often very clearly visible. Ash wood is heavy and hard, therefore the processing of ash wood is often difficult and requires precision. Due to its coarse structure, ash wood is less suitable for polishing.
